Welcome to the Pierce eCampus Student Orientation

This orientation contains information and video tutorials that introduce you to Pierce College's learning management system called Canvas and branded as Pierce eCampus; when you see 'Canvas', think eCampus. All courses offered at Pierce College have an Pierce eCampus online classroom delivered through Canvas.This is your go-to place for all courses.

New Students: accounts are created at the start of "Week Zero" - one week before the first day of instruction.
All Students: check the "Key Dates" Web page to see when "Week Zero starts, giving you access to your classrooms!
Check your Student email: If you need help using your Smail account, review these resources and support contacts! (Default PW=B-day: YYYYMMDD)
Check your MyPierce page: Verify you are enrolled in the right courses and are on-track with your Educational Plan! (Inquiry PIN=B-day: MMDDYY)


This orientation is organized by Modules on several key topics. You can access the Modules area of the orientation by clicking on the 'Modules' link in the course navigation menu on the left. We recommend you view all the modules in this orientation during Week Zero and Week 1 of the quarter.

By the end of this orientation you should be able to:

  • log into Canvas and find your online courses
  • navigate through the various sections of your Canvas classroom
  • customize your personal Canvas user settings and profile information
  • find the Inbox and use the Canvas messaging system
  • Find and check your grades
  • find an Assignment and submit your assignment

This orientation course will always be available for you to review how to do the basics in Canvas. If you have a technical question about Canvas or if something in the orientation classroom isn't working, click on the 'Help' link in the upper right hand corner of this classroom and select 'Report a Problem'.
